We want to start 2026 with the opportunity to pray and believe God for the year ahead. As we begin a new year, our dependence on God seems as obvious as ever. In new ways, we feel the reality of Jesus’ words “... apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) We as a church, and as individuals, can do nothing apart from God’s work. For that reason, we want to start the year by having our church family come together for 14 days of Prayer and Fasting.

We encourage you to pray each day with us, following our daily prayer emphasis. During week 2, (Jan 19-23) our Connect Groups will gather for a time of prayer during their regular scheduled group times, and we will end these 14 days with a Prayer and Worship night on January 25 at 6 pm.

The goal of fasting is to draw near to God.

Fasting hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out.

Fasting enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God.
It prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives.

When deciding on a fast, we encourage you to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

You don't want to miss this.

What should I fast?

It’s important to fast something that you will miss, something that’s a time consumer.  It can be food (a meal or a specific food), social media, TV or even an all-consuming hobby. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge.  For example, if giving up something like chocolate doesn’t challenge you or give you more time to spend with God, it would be best to choose something more sacrificial.

IMPORTANT: If you are doing a food fast and have a medical condition please check with your Doctor for advice about what is safe for you.

Fasting Guide and Tips
Types of Fasts

Selective Fast

This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

Partial Fast

This fast involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

Complete Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

Non-Food Fast

For some people, due to medical reasons, a true fast is not possible, you may feel led by the Lord to fast from something else, such as social media, television, or other activity that gets in the way of being with the Lord.

IMPORTANT: If you are under a doctor's care or taking medications, please consult with your doctor before starting any type of fast. We suggest that everyone consult a physician before fasting,.

7 Basic Steps to Prayer & Fasting (by Dr. Bill Bright) Daniel Fast (selective fast) Information
The timing of your fast is not as important as the strength of your focus on God as you fast.

We encourage you to join us for 14 days of prayer and fasting from January 12-25.

You may also fast at other times during the year for your spiritual development.
It’s typical to fast a single meal, a whole day, or three days or more.
